About the work:
Only when the air is crisp and cool and clear can you feel the real warmth of that sunshine. The unpainted woodgrain of the path and the contrast of light and shadow are inspired by a photograph taken in Breckenridge, Colorado by Evan Winiker.
The unfinished cabinet doors were stacked floor-to-ceiling in the sawdust-filled cabinet shop closing after 50+ years of business. With woodgrain and inlay as my guide, I layer these doors with imagined stories of what they may have become. Each surface comes with unique grain, age, and weather marks and I choose the scene to recreate on each based on the qualities and character of the wood. Every piece I paint on had a life before it came to me, and that's part of the story.
Work comes wired and ready to hang.
